Sustainable House Day secures Solar Shop Australia as Sponsor

Now in its eighth year, more than 150 homes will open their doors to the public on Sustainable House Day, showing ways to make living and working spaces more environmentally friendly.

Solar Shop Australia’s managing Director Adrian Ferraretto said that it is a natural fit for Solar Shop Australia and Sustainable House Day to join forces and promote the benefits of sustainable living.

"Over the last 10 years we have seen thousands of Australians realise the benefits of installing solar power systems," Mr Ferraretto said.

"Less than one third of one per cent (0.3%) of Australian homes has domestic solar systems installed, which is over 1000 times less than European countries, like Germany with half the sunlight of
Australia.

Sustainable House Day, an initiative of the Australia and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES), began in 2001 to raise community awareness of sustainable living in an enjoyable and informative way.

This year more than 150 homeowners across the country will open their doors to the public, sharing their experiences and the lessons they have learnt, providing a unique insight into sustainable living practices.

For the first time, entry to the homes is free while local community groups will help manage open houses, receiving a donation for their support.
