Eco Fashion

Recycle vinal handbagEco fashion refers to all fashion products that are manufactured in such a way to contribute to a healthier environment. Eco fashion clothes are made using organic raw materials like cotton, grown without pesticides and silk made by worms fed on organic trees. The eco fashion clothes do not contain harmful chemicals that bleach color fabrics. High quality garments can be prepared either from second-hand clothes or recycled plastic bottles.

Some of the animal free products are made without the use of animal tissue products. For example, vegetal leather which consists of Amazonian rubber instead of animal skin or other recycled or man-made articles are used in eco fashion products. Ethically fashion products are produced with respect for environment and people. Craft/Artisan products are crafted using artisan skills like embroidery to preserve the ancestral traditions. These products have contributed in the field of providing environmentally friendly clothes. Eco fashion products are environmentally friendly that are made from recycling raw materials which are already existing materials, fabrics, fibers or metals.

The eco fashion is a hot trend lately as people are becoming more eco-conscious. Many of the people are opting for eco materials instead of traditional cotton. Some of the natural resources include bamboo, silk, coconut shell, corn, and organic cotton. In the textile industry, bamboo fabric has a very good reputation. It helps to stay cool in summer and stay warm in winter. Bamboo material does not stick to the skin since it has the capacity to absorb more water than the traditional cotton fabric, and moreover, bamboo is grown naturally without being treated with pesticides and fertilizers. Therefore, bamboo can be considered as an eco friendly material for the production of environmentally friendly clothes.

Organic CottonOrganic cotton is also grown without the use of pesticides and is not genetically modified. The reduction of chemical used in it is also beneficial for air and water. The eco-friendly cotton has more durable fabric from extra long fibers.

Silk is considered to be an environmentally friendly fabric because it is a natural protein fiber and is good for people who suffer from allergic reactions. Hence, silk production is considered to be eco friendly. Few people do not opt for silk clothes because it needs great care and also due to its high price.

There is another environmentally friendly fabric which is called as the PET fabric. This is made out of plastic bottles blended with cotton. This has helped in the creation of knitted fabric and contains the same resistance and durability. Thus this fabric also contributes for the growing eco-fashion trend.

When it comes to talking about polyester, there is a question about whether the recycled polyester is eco-friendly? The answer to this is “not always.” The eco-friendliness of polyester depends on the process of recycling and the original polyester itself. Since it is a synthetic fabric, it is not as organic as plant fibers such as bamboo, ramie, or hemp.

To achieve the best recycling result for environmentally friendly polyester, all the ingredients of the original polyester should be healthy and environmentally friendly. Polyester has not been considered as an eco-friendly fabric because of the above few issues. Therefore, the main responsibility at this moment lies in the hands of cloth manufacturers and fashion designers to promote the trend of eco fashion.

Organic baby clothingThe more the people use environmentally-friendly clothes, the healthier are the surroundings and the people. Many top designers are embracing environmentally friendly clothes and are contributing in the promotion of an eco-fashion trend.
